About South Asian Life
Where Stories Become Bridges.
South Asian Life is more than a magazine — it’s a movement. A celebration of identity, ambition, and belonging.
Born from the understanding that South Asians have not only contributed to the fabric of the West but are reshaping its very threads, South Asian Life exists to tell the stories that matter — stories of resilience, reinvention, and quiet triumphs.
From the streets of Toronto to the valleys of Vancouver, from Silicon Valley to London, from Delhi to Dubai — we explore the journeys of those who dared to cross borders, break stereotypes, and redefine what success looks like.
We are a chronicle of people who have turned struggle into purpose, culture into influence, and heritage into art.
Our Story
The story of South Asian Life began in a basement — like many great stories do.
Its founder, Raj Brar, once known as Raaj Kapur Brar and later as Ray Brown, has lived the many faces of identity. From the early days of building one of Canada’s first multicultural media companies to witnessing the shifting tides of representation, he realized that identity isn’t static — it evolves, just as we do.
After years in advertising and media, and after a long journey of self-discovery, he returned to his roots — not to prove something, but to preserve something.
To remind the world that behind every South Asian name is not just a story of migration, but of imagination.
What We Stand For
-
Truthful Storytelling: We believe in real voices, told with integrity, heart, and beauty.
-
Representation with Depth: Beyond clichés, beyond stereotypes — we show the full spectrum of the South Asian experience.
-
Community Over Clicks: Our publication is free from algorithmic noise and programmatic ads. Every partnership is intentional. Every page is curated.
-
Legacy & Modernity: We honour tradition but speak to the future. Our stories bridge the past with the now — and the next.
The Vision
South Asian Life is not just about South Asians — it’s about humanity seen through a South Asian lens.
It’s about belonging in a world that often forgets where it came from.
It’s about remembering that before we became global citizens, we were dreamers, teachers, poets, scientists, and seekers of light.
With every issue, we strive to spark dialogue, awaken pride, and preserve culture — not as nostalgia, but as living inspiration.
Join the Journey
We publish four beautifully designed print issues each year, each one crafted as a collector’s edition — meant to be read, kept, and remembered.
Our digital home at SouthAsian.Life expands that universe — offering deeper features, exclusive interviews, and direct access for advertisers who believe in authentic storytelling.
This is our time, our voice, our story.
This is South Asian Life — where culture breathes again.
